I like the excellent diversity of approaches to the hobby and wealth of knowledge coupled with the fact that many finish their projects! 0433c6_fdc7d19f198e4fc4a65ed55154faa060_jpg_srz_147_89_75_22_0_50_1_20_0.jpg

I like the camaraderie involved in old hot rods! I don't watch much tv, and most of my friends around me don't really understand my 'car thing' as they put it...it's nice to have a place I can associate with like-minded people who share the same values in old cars and what hot rodding has always been about...fun, admiration, and appreciation....it reminds me I'm NOT the only one tinkering on the old cars! In this very fast paced world, ...it really is nice to just ''hang out'' and appreciate the website....thanks HAMB:D

Check every day, Enjoy the history of Hot Rods/Racing. The pic posts are Outstanding, have made a few new friends and the technology from members, again outstanding. The sometimes silly stuff is very entertaining, a vast variety of character's on here w/ our common interest, CARS !

I agree with the posted sentiments and would add one more, a personal one. This site is caregiver therapy. I have played with hot rods since I was 14 and that's a long time. But circumstances with my missus dictate I stay home with her 24/7 except for a four hour break once a week. So my bullshit breakfast sessions with my car buddies are no more, no more Monday night shop visits around to my buddy's, and no spontaneous excursions to see some rusty "gold" somewhere, replaced instead each morning by the HAMB with my coffee. I have met nice guys in cyberland, most of which I'll never meet in the flesh but I consider them friends none the less. The '40 Ford Anniversary thread being a great example. So today, with the temp at 20 and the windchill in single digits and a snow storm on the way I can visit shows, cruise nights, and shops all across the world and enjoy the entire gamut of traditional hot rodding. Not bad for 14 cents a day so good for Ryan and his crew for keeping me sane and entertained on those days when the walls close in.

  6. I like the fact that there is so much traffic. You can check it every fifteen minutes and there will be all new threads. So many forums lay mostly dormant for days and days. And the knowledge.

Love? mmmmmmmmmmm- can't figure out the manly answer. I do enjoy the Hell out of it.

  8. I like it because I have no friends and no one I know likes old cars and trucks. And I like that the hamb is centered around the "traditional" era of hot rodding instead of the other styles that came along later like the billet stuff and the late model computer controlled engines and cars with power everything. I love the old simple bare bones hot rods of the 60s and this is the only place dedicated to them specifically.

  9. I should have replied yesterday when I first saw this. Now there's nothing new to say but here goes. The incredible resources we have with and through each other. The vintage photographs (like the OP threw up), and everything everyone mentioned, including 3wlarry. Tim

The HAMB keeps me from having to get up off my butt, and go do something.

h'mm well I am 38 years old grew up with a dad that ran around in the 60's and playing with cars, even though I was not around to play I have always felt that the 50's and 60's were the glory days of hot rods, maybe its all the stories that I have heard over the years. but I hear those same stories here on the H.A.M.B. and love the tech stuff, and the willingness of the older generation to pass the history of this great past time on to us younger guys. and the cars!!!! you can't beat the look of all the cars from the 20's, 30's 40's and 50's.

In the Old Days, the HAMB was smart, funny, caustic, helpful. You needed to earn respect and develop a thick skin.Plus we had ChevygirlRox and Denise's road trips and cookies to balance it out. There never would have been a thread called "Why Do You Love the HAMB", that's for sure.

Buncha sappy bastards...:rolleyes:I've made a few friends here I have never met (in my case, those may be the best kind:p), ran into a few old acquaintances I'd lost touch with, acquired a stalker of my very own (makes me feel special;)) and even met a few new friends face to face. I have learned a TON about early ford chassis/suspension/brakes, which is not my area of experience, and bought a shit-load of period parts I otherwise would probably have never found. And I love the old photos.

I like to see projects like this from the younger guys like @birdog, they really "get it" and are keeping the "back in the day" flame burning.

There is nothing like strapping into my barco lounger and burning time with HAMB. But even though I'm still somewhat of newbee I kinda miss the days when the boss would have to step in and settle everyone down, good times but thanks to Ryan it's still one hell of a place for traditional hot rod hoodlums to hang, fight and learn from one another.

  18. The diversity of experience, talent, and vehicles all pointing in the same direction makes it the best bang for my buck.

  19. No other site on the internet brings so many people together, both the been there and done that greybeards to the novice dreaming of building a hot rod or custom that cpuld have graced the pages of the black & white publications of the early days.

We all have basically the same interest, sure we tend to think of the hamb as one big family, dysfunctional at times not unlike any family, but we are there for each other, good times and bad.

The hamb has inspired us all to step up our game, make us push ourselves to learn new skills and build better cars & trucks. HRP

I like it because of like minded traditional hotrod and custom people and all the good information avaiable. I get so dang tired of anti-American, anti-gun, political correct scumbags that I could puke. I also like the fact that this place is not full of asswipes with boom-boom speakers, 20 inch wheels with rubber band tires and fart cans on their rides. The H.A.M.B is full of good, helpful people that make this world a better place, even for an old redneck like me!

Lots of good information and I have met up both personally and via this site with a lot of 40 Ford folks.

You can't find a better resource for old school automotive than this place. The knowledge gained and support from fellow hotrod enthusiasts is second to none and has served this community of miscreants and social deviants to levels beyond imagination!

    Too much?

I like the vast pool of knowledgeable people on here that willingly provide answers and inspiration. There are some incredibly talented and clever people on this site whose work I would probably never get to see if not for the H.A.M.B. The photo threads are great and even the occasional pissing contests are entertaining. The hard part is regulating my time on here - I could sit and read this stuff for hours but then I'd never get my projects done.
Thanks Ryan, you've created the best website on the Internet.

  25. As stated: the tech both old and new, the showing off of the work being done, mostly DIY'ers, the historical knowledge and pics, the encouragement, the variety, the friends I have made.

Alright enough of that nice new HAMB suck-up crap. This place is a much kinder gentler place than it used to be. I kind of miss the older HAMB attitudes, bashing of newbies, making fun of the jacket club rockabillies and orcabetties, the rougher overall feel.

  26. What I like about the HAMB is that I can call anyone on here a dumbass even the ones that are way smarter than me. The smart ones take it in stride and then I know that they have substance and the ones that don't just unfollow me and I don't have to really deal with them. 40 years ago I would have had to whup the dumb ones. LOL

There are goods and bads about the HAMB, I try to ignore the bads and even if I didn't the goods would way outweigh the bads.
