My friendship with the Hellions Dallas chapter started last year before the Invasion. I was invited down to Dallas, thanks to Travis Scanlan, to cover the show for Ol Skool Rodz/ Car Kulture Deluxe (shameless plug, the issue with my coverage article comes out June 10. Get it) and that's where I first met the guys in THEM! CC who went on to later start the Dallas chapter of Hellions. I'd seen Mike Jackson's 50 Pontiac in magazines and online, but I'd never met them and had never been to the Invasion. We had a heck of a good time in Dallas and I told them that I'd be coming down to the Lonestar Roundup and that we should cruise from Dallas to Austin together. And that's just what we did. Sadly, I drove a minivan so I'm sure I brought the coolness level of the Hellions down a bit. I'm surprised they'd even let me hang around them! We met up in Arlington and left 3 hours late, which meant we needed to speed to get to the roundup on Friday afternoon. Mike's Pontiac ended up getting hot and dying and not wanting to restart while we were stopped at a rest area. 90+ minutes and a few hundred cuss words later, we were finally back on the road. We made it to Austin that night and I promptly went off to eat Salt Lick told them we'd meet up later. We ended at the Giddy Up Friday night til midnight, and IHOP until 1:30ish. Good times. Saturday at the show was a blast as always, with what I consider fantastic weather. Later that night, I met back up with the Hellions in the parking lot they rented down on Congress Street. We proceeded to party until there was literally no one else on Congress. Take that Austin!! The weekend was such a blast and I can't wait to have my car done so I can bring it next year and not have to drive a late model. Anyways, here's some photos from the weekend including some night shots from Congress Street.
