I have acquired a 560 ci BBC for my G***er build. This appears to be a weird displacement as I cannot find much information on how this is created. Is this done by stroking 540 or 502? could anyone give any information on how this engine was probably build.

This engine has come out of a circle track racer. I plan to put my 671 Blower on it. I know the compression will have to be lowered, maybe a cam change and attention to the fuel management system. The original builder also offered to set up the engine for me. But I really was interested on how the build up of this displacement is created and what the block could be, anyone have general ideas?

Someone could be giving wrong info. .100 over 540 is 565. It wouldn't be the 1st time someone got it wrong in descriptions, especially on race stuff. Brings back memories of a self-proclaimed "expert" telling me about his .410 duration camshaft.

I'd take it apart and see what's in there...but I'd probably want to do that before buying it.

If the builder has offered to do the work then he'll know how he arrived at that displacement (c.i).

^^^^^x 2 Why didn't you just ask the builder how he arrived at that cubic inch displacement?

560 cid circle track motor.....? Original builder should have specs on bore stroke etc. to match parts to make it run decent I would think.

Is that a GM Mark IV block, or aftermarket? The 427 truck block we had was .100 over with grout in the lower end water cavities. To get that cubic inch, bore would have to be over 4.5?

Multiple tracks in PA ,OHIO, DELAWARE etc ran northeast DIRT modified's for years with no cubic inch limit, often in years past on methanol and injectors! The two surviving dirt ovals in Delaware still do...they aren't much different in speed generally than a good 454 ( harder to hook up) ut myGOD do they bark when set into the corner and the throttle buried !....gives me goose bumps writing about it....

This engine is from the UK dirt oval track scene. I will have the engine next week so I can investigate fully. It was just confusing trying to find how the displacement was made, but it's probably a 565.

That's a lot of cubes to be under a 6-71. I'm doing about the same with a 523ci BBF. I'm running mine 15% OD to achieve 7psi thru good heads (SCJ's). Engine was set up 10.5:1 so that psi is about the limit for streetability on pump gas when using carbs. Don't fear the cfm. That many cubes will pull hard thru that blower. FWIW I'm running a pair of 950's. Even with a smallish camshaft (considering the cubes and heads) the car works well. Best of luck on your g***er!

Didn't know that. Everything around here is small block claimer type stuff. I bet they bark coming out of the corner!

Thanks gentlemen for the advice, I am going to check the compression next week to see but I'm imagining it's quite high so I can either plan to lower it by changing the Pistons, cams, etc or a plan to use a gas/meth mix injection to lower the compression without modifying the engine.

The blower might end up being more for looks than anything else, eh?

Do you think that blower won't be contributing enough to the engine? Maybe an 871? [emoji16]

I would start with an 8-71 and go up from there....but I really have no idea what you expect out of this engine.

    A 6-71 works great on a 427, fwiw.
