I have not done a very good job of posting progress so I thought I would post some pictures I took today. The car is at a friends house is who is doing the body and paint so I have to go there for other work. He has been helping with many of the mods also. This allows me to continue on my 40 build. Anyway, here is where it sets as of today. 100_9443.JPG 100_9444.JPG 100_9445.JPG 100_9446.JPG 100_9447.JPG 100_9448.JPG 100_9449.JPG

What seats are you using? They look good and have their own belts obviously.

Thanks Tex. danman55 they are Chrysler Sebring convertible 2008. Sectioned three inches from the backs. I wanted seats with three point belts and these seemed pretty good and have proved to be so.

I was thinking to use Sebring seats also because we have a Sebring and it's nice for rear p***enger access. I was thinking that the rails would need to be raised since they are close to the floor. For that reason, I've been looking at SUV or truck buckets. Did you need to modify the seats to raise them? Nice setup with the steering. Can you add what you used to the post?

Actually we made about a 1" recess into the floor to get the height where it looks best and also to clear the mechanism that raises and lowers the seats. Could have raised them an inch but that would have set them above the top of the doors. I did not want that look. The steering is a Fatman rack setup with some modification to the support bearing bracket (made a new one). The column is a 28" Flaming River.

Gotta ask....I asume the tack weld on the single joint is just temporary until the setup is checked out? Also, I'm not an expert on this by any means, but based on what I was told by guys that do know their stuff on how to set mine up...if you have any play in that double u joint, you may need to move the support heim joint up closer to it. My double joint however was at the bottom, on the rack...not sure if that made a difference as to why they had me move it closer than it was.

Yes the tack is just until I can get it to my friend with a TIG. The double u joint seems fine but if not it will be easy to make a mount for moving it up.
