I have noticed a few Q's about falcon 6 motors of late, I have a bit of a soft spot for these engines, they probably werent ever the best inline 6 made ( we had a real wild inline mopar 6 locally manufactured here in Australia).

    Regardless, I love them.

so, on the weekend at probably the biggest aussie swap I found this. Now I havent ever seen one before, but its a tripower intake that adapts to the original single intake, I dont think it would work as well as a conventional tripower set up, but hell it looks sweet, and the wow factor cant be denied. the exhaust manifold is very rare too.

I also got for myself a falcon 2V head, these are the aussie heads that have the bolt on intake. they were manufactured locally here from 71-73 as far as I know. I got the whole head, intake and extractors for $150 aussie.

the plan is to rebuild the 2V and put it on my ute. I have heard many stories from diehard ford guys who say that the 2V would clobber a standard 302 in a falcon during the day.

I have seen a 2V converted to triple webbers also.

I havent taken any photos of the 2Vbut will do so tonight just to show those that havent seen one before what their like.

damn, what a pile of neat junk, the 2v head is one helluva score, maybe not so much there in Oz.

what name is on that exhaust manifold?

that edelbrock valve cover ain't nothin to sneeze at either!

    Ray,

its not an edelbrock valve cover, hell you yanks always think no one else ever made speed parts! all of it was locally manufactured by a company called "SPECO".

If you look at the exhaust manifold you can see it cast into it. the vlave cover and the intake have "falcon" in script cast into them so would be good either side of the pond. Just a neat piece really.

Those parts are really great. I'm jealous.

Offenhauser made (still available as a new casting) a 3x1 intake that mates to the original log maniflod cast into the head. It requires cutting two holes on the ends for the additional carbs. Yours looks to be about the same.

I've been looking for an Edelbrock finned cover here for almost 10 years and have never seen any locally, so I ponied up the money for a brank new cover made by one of the Ford Six guys. I'm also a reader of Ford Six.

I don't know that your dual exhaust there would offer much of a performance gain, but I sure like the looks of it!

  9. Corey you're right on the go factor. My brothers ol XP Falcon (similar to a comet or sprint in size) ran a 250 2v, 600 holley, mild cam extractors and not much more. Most HSV v8 Commodores (around about 5 years ago) couldn't catch him at all!!! Best thing was cops never cared much for it as it looked factory fitted :D Problem was stopping the ****er, those drums aint that good!

Those cast iron split exhaust manifolds are slick! I'll bet they could be sold on this side of the ocean no problem.

Speco, huh? that VC looks like a dead ringer to me Edelbrock one. i could tell the intake was different than the usual ones we see.

long shot i know, but if you'd ever be interested in parting with the VC or exhaust, i'd be interested, then i could p*** on my edelbrock VC and split manifold on to someone else. it'd be cool to have some aussie speed parts on my mill.

    Great Score!

The exhaust manifold is definitely unique and looks awesome with the tripower and finned valve cover.

No, but I believe they go like **** off a chrome shovel!

Don't know much about the sixes, but I think the current heads are cross flow DOHC.

    Nice score, flatoz!

IIRC, those 2V heads were made from '70-'76, and were offered as a 170HP option with a two barrel carb midway between the stock six and a V8. I've got two of those heads, plus two of the LYNX intakes, one for triple sidedraft SU's, and the other for triple sidedraft Webers.

    Cool stuff.

    First of all,

I actually didnt purchase it, I "found" it as in it was at the swap, sorry on the confusion, if it had have been for sale I reckon I would have purchased it, if only to sit on the shelf until a motor was ready for it.

*****, I didnt know that the 2V heads were for the 170's also, I have only ever seen them used in the 250's here ( are you talking in canada??)

thinking about it you would be right as they were used in the XB falcons that went up to 76. and 70 was the first year of the XY ( what I have)

pretty stoked at finally getting a 2V head, have been lusting after one for years ( much to the chargrin of "why not put a windsor in it?")

my ute is my daily driver and is on "gas" thats LPG or liquid petrolium gas here, I can get 3-4 weeks out of a tank at a cost of about $40-5 hence why I put up with the 6. It gives me money to spend on petrol for the roadster:D

To clear up the confusion - the 2V heads were used on the Aussie Ford 250", and were rated at 170 Horse Power. They will bolt onto the stateside 250" w/o any modification.

They need to be shaved a bit to have the correct C.R. for a 200". I guess you could say the same for a 144" or a 170", if you were actually inclined to mess around with one of those dinky little engines. :D

That tri power set-up w/ the finned cover looks cool, though.
