Sorry about the fuzzy photo... The part number on it is 1736436 I "THINK" it is Mopar of some sorts The big hole makes me think automatic ????? I know there is someone here that knows more them me And Help or Input is much appreciated....THANKS
it looks like a mid 50's mopar a488 auto bell housing, should fit early hemi and poly motors I believe.
That loooong input only applies to semi-auto and full manual trans. The fully automatic, Powerflite and Torqueflite, have 'normal' length bells. I agree this housing is for a Mopar automatic, but I do not know the specific application. Maybe 73RR would have the answer. Ray
The engine block side bolt pattern screams B/RB (350, 361, 383, 413. 426, 440) and not A or early hemi/poly engine. The alignment dowel locations and starter location are the giveaways. The casting number range makes me think its for 1958 or so application. The long crankshaft flange stick-out dimension on the 62 and earlier engines requires the deeper bellhousing depth. For confirmation, try it out on a 440 engine.
Cast iron Torqueflite. Are you sure that number doesn't end in a "5"? Third page. http://www.chrysler300club.com/tech/gn/TFspecs & info.pdf
THANKS EVERYONE FOR THEIR INPUT....I THINK WE GOT IT FIGURED OUT...OR AT LEAST CLOSE, AND THAT WILL DO.... I APPRECIATE EVERYONE'S TIME AND EXPERTISE
