Silly question but, what is the thread size on the ball joints on 56 cars. I was going to pick up some after work but forgot to bring one with me.

    1/2-20? This sounds close.

According to my Ford parts book, the upper is a 9/16 - 18 and lower is 5/8 - 18.

Good to know. I just reach into one of my parts buckets when I need hardware. I save old castle nuts and some of the new ones I've gotten with components were so bad, I used my old ones.

Thanks. I tried two different parts stores and no luck. O'Riellys said they could get me one special order for $175.99! I'm going to try Fastenal. I've had real good luck with them.

It was just the one nut. The guy on the phone said it was due to shipping. I'm sure it had more to due with the fact it was for a 56 Ford. I'm sure I can get them from Fastenal pretty cheap. I get the same pricing they give my employer.

I had to cut the castle nut off of my power steering control valve, I picked up a new one at Ace hardware for about a buck.
