Sorry it's not in motion, but anyone that used to inhabit Lions Drag Strip remembers this 1925 Buick Touring car. If I recall, it had a 6-71 blown V8 under the hood (Buick nailhead I believe) and it hauled ass, surprised a lot of cars in the other lane. Looked stock as a stove other than the drag slicks and roll bar... b1.jpg

Is that the same one that was featured in Hot Rod around '62-'63 ? There was a cute cartoon in the article, about it being a get away car.

From George Klass: Jim Fox's T-modified roadster, painted candy purple, blown Chrysler with a chain drive right behind driver's head...Jim went on to partner with Bill Adair and Dennis Holding in a similar purple fueler, then Fox and Holding partnered with Ron Rivero and Norm Weekley for the Frantic 4 fuelers....I'm not sure where this is, but remember seeing the car at Riverside in '61, but before the blower...

Also from George, right after the injectors replaced carbs on the Howard Cam car....story I heard is that they saw the board at front laying in the street on Alameda Blvd on their way to Lions, and it just stayed...crude but effective

Jim Herbert in the Lizard, Jim Davis car....

Starv'n Marvin Schwartz in his Garlits car...ran as a sort of partner to Don, the two raced for TE at one of the Smoker's meets....Marvin was originally from Denver and raced a Ford powered fueler until he joined up with Don...later died in a TF crash...

No ID, think it is in MO....Steel wheels, steel cars, the way it was once done....(addition from wrenchbender: Willys was owned and driven by Harley Estes from Joplin, MO, thanks!)

    cache_2547481904.jpg
Bill Traylor's "Animal" Bantam coupe at Lions...Bill towed in from the Midwest and broke the existing 1320 AF/CC record by a mile....car was painted a bright candy red, custom work and paint by Dave Stuckey....aluminum chassis.

    Bob_Cantin_Early_dragster_Calgary_club_001.jpg
Caption is "Bill Cantin early dragster, Calgary"....no other info (correction from flashback58: Bob Cantin....thanks!

Not sure what track this is but the Willys coupe was owned and driven by Harley Estes from Joplin mo the car is now owned by chuck comer and is called the "suicide ride" and is still in Joplin the track doesn't look like Mokan where Harley ran regularly but I'm a bit young to say for sure I'm sure bill wilbert could say for sure I'll see if I can find out

Bob Cantin should be the name on that last shot, but I'm not entirely sure that's the correct name, I don't know that Bob ever had a sixer digger, but next time I see him I'll show him this pic and ask him!

To not break the trend... Here is one of myself in motion in 2012 in medicine hat alberta
