im looking for a flexible oil dipstick with rubber o rings for my 1972 olds 455 engine im putting in my 1956 oldsmobile... a part number or a link would be great.. thanks
i did i typed in 455 olds and it popped up one but off to the side it said small block chevy...so i wrote them and asked about it we will see what they say...if not i guess i will use a after market solid one and put some sealant on it before i pound it in
Aftermarket ones are made from thin tube and will bend before they are fully in. Get a original one made from US steel.
Good discussion here on realoldspower, looks like the Lokar ED-5008 with slight modification works good http://realoldspower.prophpbb.com/topic693.html
What is wrong with the original dipstick tube? I have 455 in my convertible, and the original tube works fine for me.
i just wanted a sure seal...but after reading all the horror storys on the customized flex one im back to the original and some sealant...
I really don't know why you would need sealant on the tube. I've run a freaking lot of Olds 350's and 455's and never had a dipstick tube leak.
Please advise............where can I buy aftermarket part "A" that I do not really need but the magazines convinced me I should purchase only to sell it later for $20 at a swapmeet?.................Are we clear here? Usually OEM parts like this are BETTER than most of the stuff you see in glossy mags.
