  5. Rainier Oregon circa 1912-15ish. Rainier had the most saloons per capita in Oregon and Washington, at one time boasting 16. A few of them were listed as Saloon/woman's boarding.... so that's what they called them back then.

    Pendleton, Oregon had 18 brothels and too numerous to count saloons and bars (some say 52 at an all time high)

    Early sixties, not sure of the year. I remember the guys with the car were really nice.

  17. Maybe that is why that era was called The Great Depression. Their faces certainly reflect the trials and tribulations of the time. They DO have a nice Studebaker, though....

    I don't think that this clan was too affected (negatively) by the Great Depression. The car is too new and too clean, and they are very well dressed.
    BTW local professional photographers would go to picnics and family gatherings to take pictures and charge a few cents per copy. I don't think this was one of them, they may have had their own camera.
    It seems like they are out on a very typical Sunday picnic.

    Those front prop ones would make for a messy "car vs. pedestrian" accident.

  25. My big brother Richard and the Model A he built in 66. Runs a 1958 283 Chevy, 4 speed, black Naugahyde stitched by him and my Mom.Cragar SS mags came later. He still has it!!!
