I've loved following the progress on this car. I like the fact that it already looks like a factory build convertible, and not modified &/or custom built. Truly a work of art.

This must be one of my all time favorite builds on the HAMB! Everything is so right about this car. I love the design and execution. Can't wait to see it finished.

Hey Ratty, if those Demons knew how to throw an after party like the Barons then I'd consider it. haha. I've been a little distracted with domestic dilemas lately and there hasn't been much progress. But I'm just catching my breath getting ready for the next round. Thanks to everyone for their nice comments. Makes the trials and tribulations of life bearable.ps I aint sure who these barbarians are down at the used car lot. Bad neighbourhood. But ya gotta love bunting

Good news is that three weeks ago I have got full time work at a restoratio n shop, been flat out. Small dynamic team andgreat guys. Bit streetrod and musclecar so far but I'll cope. I'm not worried that the 39 has had a bit of a hiatus. Just means that when the time is right I will be reinvigorated.
Work to be done is initially just to get her up and running. Engine turns over but Hasn't run in years but I'm quietly optimistic. Need to do brakes. Glass needs to be cut. need windshield rubbers etc. I have a brand new wire harness. It needs two full weeks and it could be drivable. My mates in the Baron's club will be having a work day after Xmas. . . . depending on the flow of beer, hope to get some stuff done. Once she's running I'll be able to maybe squeeze some after hours play at my new work.

This is a really cool link and one that harks right back to when I first got the 39 and had no idea what I should do with the car prior to customizing it. It all started to fall into place after that. Also note that this is a Sixty Special evidenced by the exposed hinges. The other photos are of a second car , obviously a conv. It may be that the Sixty Special was the car that rolled enroute to delivery.

Made an infill between the body and bumper. I will emulate the curve of the trunk line with the upper edge of the bumper prior to getting it chromed. Also big excitement with getting the engine running after sitting 50 years. Sounds smooth and sweet.
Nice work on the bumper pan. Sounds like you lucked out on the motor. Amazing that it was not seized up, sitting all those years. What was involved in getting it running again?
Absolutely beautiful Q. The thing keeps looking better and better. I'm just waiting until it looks 100% and then you pick some awful 1994 Mazda color for it... Hahaha. Seriously, that thing looks 50 times better than any of the factory reference photos you've posted. Awesome job. So what are the plans for the window mechanisms? Hey Josh. Happy new Year Mate. Original window mechs are still in place. I just have to get everything absolutely aligned and then I will cut the glass. But the best news is that I went for my first drives yest amd today. Just up and down the street a few times in an industrial area but the gearbox is sweet and brakes are good. Moments ago I fixed what I thought was a manifold leak but was just a vacuum leak. The engine is nice and smooth and quiet. Amazing. Minimal smoke and I'll do the same test run again on the weekend and then put in a heavier oil. A few loose bolts, bangs and rattles to sort next.
