I got this from a friend of mine and I was wondering if anyone had pics of them being used? I was thinking of making a fuel cell out of it but then I thought it migh be to small. Anyone else have other ideas?
yeah, that does look cool. Im trying to convince my buddy to use one like that in a belly tank. I think it would fit in there nicely and not take up too much room. how many gallons do they hold?
Yes belly tank seems proper application! I got 1 which is really nice...waiting for that belly tank to show up!
Got any more shots of this truck and the bed. Lots going on back there, I'd like to have a closer look!
I can't locate any pics but I believe Jimmy Shine ran one in the bed of his bare metal pickup before it's current finished state.
I'll try to find it when I get home, but there was a spread in Rodder's Journal a few issues ago about a vintage salt racer that was restored back to original running condition ... it had one mounted right next to the driver, peeking out of the ****pit. Congratulations, sounds like a good friend.
Here's the one on my altered. It was sitting on one of Gene Winfield's junk piles. "Hey, Gene, what's that?" "It's an old bomber oxygen tank. Guys use them for fuel tanks. You'd need to put a filler cap on it or just stand it up on end and use one of the end caps". "How much do you want for it?" "$35" He's a great guy. I should have had him sign it for me though.
That thing looks awesome on there. Did you weld the bung your self? Stainless right? I was thinking about using it as an air tank you know spare air in the shop. Now I am not sure.
We used ours for 30 years until it found its way to the junk along the side of my carport. It is going to be reactivated into service for my '33 coupe stocker. if it fits.
Wel if anyone else knows where I can get another I am starting to like the duel tank idea. * gallons is not enought to get me down the road and back.
