A job I was at today. Car was unregistered, uninsured. Lost control 60m (200ft) from the House in a small suburban street, backed it in, took out a small tree and still hit hard enough to do this much damage. Ruptured fuel tank. Very lucky man and residents.

That ****s, especially because I'll bet fixing cl***ic American cars in Australia can be expensive.

Or am I wrong, is it pretty easy to get parts and find good cl***ic cars to buy? Rust is probably not as big an issue as it is over here in the rust belt of the the US.

Where in Australia are you (what city)? I lived in Wollongong for a while in college. I remember seeing lots of old Holdens and Datsuns (the 180B's and 210's are indestructible) but not very many American cl***ics.

Here in Columbus, Ohio we just had a car drive into an apartment, back up, and drive off. When will people learn that, as they say in Vegas, "the House always wins"?!

I don't think he'll be fixing this one. It was very bent and I have a feeling he'll be spending his money elsewhere for a while.

I'm just outside Melbourne (45 min) but I work in the NW burbs of Melbourne. Most days I'd see at least one hotrod, musclecar or cl***ic in my travels.

Holdens and Falcons are built right here in Victoria so that's mostly what you see.

That's some serious structural damage to that brick house.

Haha, I would have just told the guy its procedure to remove the car and take it to the station for further tests. What engine and who snagged it? All I can say is I hope the guy had some insurance on that house of his.

Holy **** I'm glad nobody got killed. That poor house did'nt have a chance to get out of the way. And like someone already said the house always wins.

Very lucky no one was killed. Crash happened around 3.30pm (school time) in a back street. The house is situated on the corner of a court, typically the sort of spot you see kids riding bikes and skateboards and the like.

That car would have been an Aussie one from birth. Had a SBC (with a jammed carb)

was the car being driven, or was it a neigbor who was working on the pontiac in the driveway and had it get away from him ?

i noticed you said the carb was jammed, that and the amount of damage would lead me to ***ume that it wasnt in a forward gear, that it wound up in reverse while the owner was tuning it of something

if he was driving it, i hope the homeowner sues him for everything, nothing wrong with sueing someone when they display such sheer stupidity

if he was tuning it in his driveway, i hope the cars owner and the home owner are very good friends .... cause this is gonna take ALOT of beer to get to the point that its just water under the bridge

Details were a bit sketchy but I did a bit of detective work (fireman style) and found the spot down the road where the car lost traction, then where it turned around and started to go backwards. I think the driver did say something about panicking and hitting reverse. But by that stage he would have already lost it. If he did select reverse, it wouldn't have helped the situation.

  14. At least he didn't damage the nose. Those are hard to come by. I hate to see a Pontiac ruined, but I really hate to see someone's house ruined. Glad no one was hurt, cause if they were, they'd be dead.

Years ago I managed the body shop at the local Olds dealership.

One Saturday I get a call and a lady asks " Can you drive out to my house to give me an estimate".

I say, "Sure, where is it?"

    She says, "In my kitchen".

    Damned sure was, too.
