I was test fitting my motor and transmission today, and after getting the motor mounts to engage into their holes I noticed that there was no transmission crossmember in the car. I got boxes and boxes of parts with the car. I even got a crossmember for a late '60s mustang. Is the crossmember for the transmission integral to the frame or does it bolt to the frame just before the "H" in the frame. I see some wholes drilled into the frame just prior to the frame "H". the mounting pad for the transmission mount is about 2-3" before where the frame "H" is. I am using a small block ford and a C4 just for fitting purposes. I will be installing an AOD for the final installation.

So if I am missing the ****** crossmember where will I find one, or what can I use to replace it with?

Thanks for all of your help

I cleaned up and primed mine today. See the pics attached. This member is about 14.5" on the short side of the bend and about 17.25" on the long side. It mounts ahead of the cross bar on the X member. I cannot verify any dimensions since my wagon is not here at the moment. The two bottom holes are on about 4" centers. There should be matching holes in the frame member. I hope this helps, 56 tudor post IMG_20160215_205137366.jpg IMG_20160215_205127417.jpg IMG_20160215_205151483.jpg

That looks like exactly what I am looking for. the holes in the frame match almost exactly what your crossmember holes look like. If I don't have one. Where can I get one?

I just built one when I did my swap. Used the original holes.

I am in orange county california. That fab'd cross member looks good. I may have a problem getting raw materials. what is the gauge of the tubing and the flats?

Set up a McMaster Carr account, they have just about any raw material you will ever need.

The one in my '59... came out easy. S****ed 3 lbs of crud off it and painted it. Going back in, the frame must have relaxed a bit. The frame rails are not parallel either, what a chore to get the frame spread that 1/8" to get it back in.
