Anyone know what car this fits? 16" with faux wood finish. Fits G.M. column on my 55 Chev. P.N. is 3923697 on hub. There was no horn ****on.
IIRC, GM used these in multiple cars; not just Chevys, but mid-size Olds and Buicks too. Don't recall seeing one in a Pontiac, but maybe I just didn't see one.
I did a search on your part#...1968 (only) telescopic steering column hub. Casting number 3923697 Read more: http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c3-parts-for-sale-wanted/2888234-68-72-vette-parts-for-sale.html#ixzz40XzyDsmA
The GM wheels had holes and not slots...at least my SS '65 Impala had it that way ( I owned two of them over the years). Google show them both ways.
Google "1966 GTO interior photo" and see some of the same wheel. There was also one type with rivets all around the rim.
That version was mainly used on Buicks all the way through the late 70's. Used to be able to get them off of the Skyhawks (Monza clone) for $15 in the mid 80's.
Actually as many have guessed in the past I am a knuckle dragger, I loosened the horn ****on thingy when I first got it and pushed it back in.
My 1968 Corvette had an almost exact copy of that wheel. Mine was fake wood but looked very convincing.
I have that wheel on my car it is a 1968 Olds 442 the Corvette wheel mentioned above has a little more flatness to the spokes. Hope this helps you some. Joe
Early versions of this wheel came out in 1964 I believe for Corvette...your wheel is known as a 2 piece wheel because the center spokes are 2 pieces..one over the other in the center. Used from 1965 to 1968...in Corvettes and Camaros. Chevelles and Novas used a different steering wheel...might have used this one in 1968 only. 1969 was a black vinyl Comfort grip wheel. Can't really tell from the pics...but if it is original and uncracked it's worth $350-$450...on ebay...at least it used to be so..
Same wheel in my 69 camaro with black surround, has a stainless strip embedded in the outside edge of the surround.
Like Olds Joe, I too have th1t wheel on my 68 442. Walnut wheels (faux wood) were used on pre-69's. 69 Camaros did use a black comfort grip but also an available faux rosewood wheel, like this but different color. I have seen walnut wheels without cracks go for as much as $700 and the rosewood wheel for up to $1500. Corvette wheels differ in the depth of the rim...and a few hundred more dollars.
