I sure would like to see this one in color.

  2. Did Lewis buy this car from Kenny Lindley? I ask because it is Lindley's "Miss Fire" dragster.

  3. Lindley owned it when I snapped this photo at Pomona in June of '59.

The "Blown Hearse" was a regular at Dover Drag Strip back in the 60's and always put on a great show.

One of my favorites. I used to "help" them get it ready. Was a youngster and it was just up the road from my school. Used to hang around after pedaling 2 miles from home to get my my butt there. They finally got used to me and I got to be the "Hey kid" hey kid grab me a 1/2 inch or hey kid get me a coke.

The original garage where it was built and stored is still there. On my last trip back to the states I saw it and other than a little updating with the siding etc. it is still close to being just like it was 50+ years ago. The original garage is still there and still an automotive shop.

I can say proudly without a doubt that the blown Hearse was THE car that got me started in anything automotive and mainly DRAG RACING.

I think the car was from some where in Connecticut if my memory is correct.

  14. Very cool photo of the Miss Fire at Riverside. I knew they switched to a top mounted blower, but had never seen a picture of it after the switch.
