I've got a '63 Ford Galaxie 500 fastback that I'd like to drop the *** end about 5" or 6". The front is no problem ( cut coils & 2 1/2" dropped spindles). But the rear leaf spring poses a problem because I haven't found lowering blocks bigger than 3" or 4" & don't really know if a bigger lowering block is available or if they would even work in this application. Other than changing the rear to a four link with coils is there another economical way to lower it. Appreciate any input. Thanks, Bobbyd
Reverse the eyes, and de-arch the springs. Use moderate blocks, not 4". Why are you lowering the rear of Ford's Race Car?? You must live East of the Mississippi.
Mike, don't the springs get longer when you de-arch them. What size block would you call moderate? Bobbyd
True, Engine man... I used to see those Galaxies with their tails draggin'...I'd look and say, "And STAY out!"
search for lowering springs, like ones at Dearborn Cl***ics / 1"-3" rear drop, or have yours modified
I've owned 3 '60 to '64 Fords and they all had "settled" to one degree or another. The '64 Galaxie with 200,000 on the original leafs was the worst. This self de-arching my be one reason many of these cars got their shackles flipped. -Dave
