Art & Inspiration Collecting pictures of broken connecting rods.

I am collecting pictures of broken connecting rods, maybe with pistons too, for an art project.

No late-model stuff. No aluminum. Just good old-school rods, that have seen some rough treatment.

I have mined the inter-webs, and now I am looking to see what you guys have in your collections.

Had to post the block for the full affect. Old supercharged Hemi on hydrazine .

 

1955 331 Chrysler... broke 3 rods and bent a 4th:

 

and heres a 1957 354 Chrysler rod that frost buckled:

 

Kinda looking for them out of the engine. Damage looks cool, though.

 

That's a new one on me!

Sawed the pan right in two! I'll bet that woke up the neighbors...

Visit your local machine shop or engine builder and take your camera. Most of them keep a few of the really nasty ones to show to customers and will probably let you take a picture.

I've torn down several motors that went into a lake when they were running or just shutoff that had rods that and it would be almost every rod.

 

Looks like hydrolock (Hydrostatic lock)

I believe so. Google was my friend Some heavy duty rods and bends along with a broken cap. A couple more
