For those of you that have bonded your car or truck in Minnesota & the state accept your ***le application and issued you a bonded ***le What did you put on the form about how you got the vehicle & where it came from etc. i know about the four photo's and the sale price & what they determine the value of the vehicle to be Do they accept bill's of sale that from other states with less h***le then a bill of sale from someone from Mn? Do Private party or junkyard bill of sales work the same or is one better then the other? I hate to start this process by putting down something that causes problems with the DMV, i thought i'd try this rather then going through a ***le service Thanks for any info on this subject, you can respond here or pm me Thanks
I was thinking about this yesterday.... One person you may want to be in touch with is Scott Steffan. He's from the Maplewood Police Dept. he writes the "Closer Look" column that appears in the Linechaser on occasion. You know the one that deals with legal/car issues? Perhaps he's even done a column on this issue before, might be worth looking through some old Linechasers if you keep them. Good Luck, Bryan
I got a bonded ***le for my t-bucket and my buddy got a bonded ***le for my old 53 Olds. Basically, you get the statement of origin paperwork and have "the former owner" fill it out with a statement on where he got it, how long he had it, etc... Take some pictures before you start ANYTHING and bring them with. Is it a car with a VIN? PM me for any questions. Karl
I've done two in the past and am doing my third right now. The first two the state didn't require me to bond the ***le, the third the state just required me to send them more pics of the car when it is closer to complete so I don't know what they will require yet. Just get a "Statement of Facts" sheet from the DMV, have the previous owner fill it out and put down why there isn't a ***le with the car. On both my past transactions they just stated that the car was a project car and has been off the road for years and the ***le was lost. Submit that with 4 pictures, one of each side and one of the front and one of the back of the car and if all goes well you'll get a ***le. The nicer the car is the higher the chances are that the state will require you to bond the ***le and you can get the bonding info through your insurance company, I believe that it costs $50 -$75 a year and you have to carry the bond on it for 3 years.
Hey Thanks Karl & 63 for the info & those that pm'ed Bryan that's a good idea on the Linechaser & Scott Steffan articles, hope the 57 Star Chief is coming along, got to check your thread next hope this helps other guys in the state that had concerns about bonding a ***le & whats needed Thanks
I once was able to download a statement of facts to a motor vehicle from the M.D.R.A. (Minnesota) But can no longer find it. I'm looking for a statement of facts for both the seller and buyer in MN. Or some generic version that can be used. thanks.
So does anybody know the exact requirement for the state to require a bond, is it at the states discretion or...., should be good enough to fill out the app. run the vin, 4 photos and ***le, why the bond?
