Doing a restore on a 57 Cadillac 365. Older motor that I bought to put into a 28 roadster.
It currently is running on the stand but not getting full fuel pressure for some reason. not enough to run the secondaries at load that is for sure.

Fuel pump was a OEM unit that I bought. Took it apart and the upper seal, IE the one in the picture that the arrow is pointing to is ripped all to pieces on the inside. Clearly not air tight.

Is a airtight seal required on this top seal for the pump to work. it sits above the one way valves. I would prefer to keep the mechanical pump if at all possible.

All seals need to do what they are designed to do, seal. I would ensure that it does just that as any leak would be detrimental.

Looks like the inlet side of the pump. If it's leaking, it's ****ing air and will not pump very well.
How hard can it be to make a seal?
New carb and repairs kits listed for 57 caddy.

Made one out of ETOH resistant rubber and it seems to be running just fine now above 50%. Need to put a load on it to confirm but thank you .

Think I was a little tired from all the work last night.
