'61 Chevy P/U drum swap

hey I am asking this for a friend. He wants to know what brake drums will fit on his 1961 Chevy P/U. He has 6 bolt pattern now and wants to convert to a 5 bolt pattern without converting to disc's. thanks

 

Try '51-'54 Chev p***. hub/drum ***'y - they fit thru '51-'59 beam axle trucks with Bendix brakes which are the same as the '61 as far as shoe width and drum diameter. If the spindle is the same size, should work. If not, try a later year - believe they widened the shoes on cars in the late '50s or early '60s.

Car front brakes got wider in 59.

he wants to run astro supremes and he said they dont make 6 lug supremes.

 

Why not disc's? Its easy and safer.
