Hi Community, Hemi Guys what is the difference between hemi 331 Pistons from 1953 1954 and 1955 ?? Please show the two ebay Links. I don't understand why the price is so different. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrysler-pi...m233565185f:m:mb0ICIsKurtdRfsoKX3Iiiw&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrysler-pi...m27de0b9a50:m:mb0ICIsKurtdRfsoKX3Iiiw&vxp=mtr Greetings from Germnay Mario
Yes, the pistons are interchangeable. I used the '55 pistons in a '53 block with '54 heads when I built mine. It's all good.
No, but the intake and exhaust ports are different from '53 to '54. Headers and exhaust gaskets are much easier to find for '54 and later.
For not much more money you can buy custom-forged pistons and actually get some decent compression. Those cast prices are down-right scary.... .
Listen to Gary- 73RR. I built my first Hemi in 1965 and since then have owned 26 of them. The compression increase will wake that engine up. I do have a question about the octane rating of the available gasoline in Germany. In the USA an octane rating of 91 is common and 10-1 compression will work just fine.
Here in germany you can take many diffrent gasolines. From 85 octane to 102 octane. Cheap gasoline in germany E10 has 85 octane Normal gasoline 91 octane Super gasoline 95 octane Super plus gasoline 98 octane And then some special gasolines with 100 or 102 octane. For classic cars i take 95 octane. Greetings Mario
10-1 talk to 73RR. As we say here "I have no dog in this fight". In other words I have no personal interest or connection. I just know that he is knowledgeable and a stand up guy. You will like the effect of the big compression.
