Well, this is the best thread I've read on the HAMB...You guy's rock, young and old. About the ALLIANCE I'm getting there soon, just let me get the car in that garage to keep working on it...
Beano pays for his presence here. Maybe not in dollars, but in tech and wisdom. If this really is a money issue to you guys, I will pay for his membership, without hesitation. What I alone have learned from him is worth more than that to me. I am waiting for the 10,000 post mark, to make sure that I am actually welcome. Almost there.
o.k. you talked me back into it...I really appreciate all the good advice (and some not so good, lol), I've gotten over the years...thanks Ryan for a great site...
Was on the Hamb alliance when it was first initiated. Lost my job a few years ago and stopped. Never got back into the habit of rejoining for years after. Read a post on here a few months back about the importance and allegiance that a member expressed. Guilt set in and I realized I was a slacker. Posting this to light more fires. We all waste money in one way or another. Most just get out of the habit of sending in the money. Ryan, I would trust you to automatically deduct my account every year for an alliance membership. How about starting that type of program.?? I am just lazy.
Don't feel guilty Pete, it isn't support or a gift if someone feels compelled to give. No shame in your game.
I have an option to do that... It's a click away actually... But it feels dirty to me. I signed up for things and forget about it and then three years later I figure out I've been paying something I no longer use... and it makes me sick. So, I've elected not to auto-deduct. In any case, thank you guys. Seriously. The gesture of the alliance is not lost on me - not for a single second - and it's so appreciated, but no one should feel guilty for not being a member.
The Hamb is the only outside source I would feel comfortable with having an automatic deduct. We all could have a choice of using it when when we sign up. I'd really like to see the option. We could cancel the deduct anytime we'd like. Dirty?? No way when we sign up for it. It's not like some stupid catalog we signed up for not knowing they were going to continue the subscription. Please consider it.
quit sticking them in your ears to keep the grey matter in, they fall in and thats whats rattlling !! being on a very fixed income is whats limits me , when you save used pistons and recycle them to put monies in the car fund is part of the deal ( plus any recycling from other odd jobs like plumbing ) and the tendency that when I join something I say will get a MOD P.O. and me banned ( always happens ). so no pay no worries ..
I am a Alliance member because I have the funds to at this time. I have met great people here, and gained knowledge that I can get no where else. I get up in the morning grab a cup of coffee ant then the H.A.M.B. I do what I can because I can, I don't have the knowledge that people on here do but, I have two ears and one mouth, I try to split the time up more on the listening side.
I became a Alliance member because I get far more out of the HAMB than I put into it and figured the best option was to support it. Where else can a person see the pics of great hot rods from shows across the country, ride along on cross country trips, watch builds become drivers and glean so much information about so many vehicles
One of these days I'll remember to ask for my Alliance discount when I order something. Mean while I just figure that the money isn't that much for the enjoyment I get here and how much I learn.
Shit!! I didn't know the money helped keep the HAMB going!! I didn't want my money going into Ryans pockets so he didn't have to work for a living!! Now I have to go find my daughters piggy bank! Pete
............Ron, If you hover over the little "Oscar" icon up top the drop-down menu has an "Alliance Status" option. Click on there and you can see the date that it expires. It's in very small print by the way.......Don.
I am in my first year as an Alliance Member, which to me personally is the best way I can support the HAMB. In years past I was a magazine junkie, but that avenue lacks the personal enjoyment I receive from using the HAMB, no interaction, no questions answered, very little technical information, mostly ads. I also found myself not reading them, but just stacking them in a pile for future reads. If you figure how often and how much time you spend here, you will realize what a bargain we have here! THANK YOU Ryan!!
I have been a ALLIANCE MEMBER since Ryan first offered the extra savings from so many vendors, and fortunately I had the extra cash to join. That first year I saved enough money with the discounts to purchase the membership the next 3 years and the discounts have covered the cost every year since. The 2016 membership might end up being the first membership that doesn't pay for itself due to my recent accident, but in the end the Hamb to Ryan is a passion and his business. There are many reasons not join the Alliance,a lot of guys are living on limited income, out of work, raising a family and the list goes on. Bottom line,Alliance Member or not, everyone gets the the same great web site. HRP
....Did you know that you are HAMB member # 86,116? Holy Cow now my mind has been blown two things in on day I'm done..........Hobo Jim
Many good reasons to become an Alliance member. Will join this week. Sent from my SM-T377V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I will when I can. Living pay day to pay day, logically, I should be doing something other than hot rods for fun. I was offered a membership a while back, and told the guy to donate the money to his local VFW chapter. Just not in my books right now.
I enjoy the HAMB and Garage Forum more than any other forums I visit. I joined the Alliance on the HAMB. Saved 80 bucks on a Coker Tire order was nice to. Thank you Ryan!
