I have a set of aluminum carbs I need to clean and rebuild. Whats a save way to do this without damaging them?

I use gunk hydroseal II, just don't get it on plastic or paint.

I've always used laquer thinner myself. The varnish just comes off in a powder when you are done soaking and the carb has dried.
