Want to run a 4-bar, dropped front tube axle, with coil overs, (ala Two Lane Blacktop '55-style), front suspension, on a street driven, (occasional track time), Tri-Five Chevy, with a set back big block...looking for advice on picking coil overs for this particular set up...thanks

You need to have your approximate front end weight with motor trans and front clip. That will get you in the ball park for spring weights. But you will need to have the front end design and set up all figured out so you can measure your over all suspension travel. That will let you give you the info for shock length. I would go about an inch or two longer than the actual suspensions travel and build bump stops to contact tge axle to keep from bottoming out tge shock. I'd say a 12 or 14 inch coilover would be good for that. I like tge Aldan eagle coil overs. Have had a pair on the back of the roadster for 10 years and still work perfect.

I am wonder if it is possible to run a coil over in the place of the stock coil and shock of a 55 special. Kind of like is done on Camaro front clips

When you say 55 special do you mean Buick? There are kits out there that let you put coilovers on tri 5's stock front suspension. My dad has a set on his 57 nomad. I believe there are from QA1.

Yes sir. 55 Buick. Yeah everyone caters to the tri five crowd. Not a fan. I want it low but not cambered over and eating a tire low.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the Buick front suspension is different from the Chevy. I had a 57 with 2 1/2 inch drop springs in it and later I cut a half a coil out and it sat perfect. Might wanna look at drop springs for it. The Coil overs offer adjustability but they are a pain in the *** to adjust.
