After years of crossing paths wth it, I just joined the H.A.M.B. I'm rolling three of the much-maligned ropeshaft cars, trying to return them to bone stock. 1961 is a little blue four-door automatic, original 215 V8 car. 1962 is a red convertible, a faked 215 car with a four-speed. 1963 is "Agnes," a dark red LeMans with a 326 V8 and two-speed Powerglide with the console shifter option. I've got a ton of parts and experience with these cars, and happy to help. Also out back, threatening to run again: a '62 Buick Special "Power Pack" coupe (T-10 and 4 bbl, 10.25:1 compression 215 V8) with Corvette side pipes. Chuck, aka Hootsky
Get catalogs from Ames and OPG. Beware of the quality of the parts, most are re-pops. Ames rates the re-pop parts in the catalog to give you an idea how well they may fit. I have a 66 Goat and have found "new old stock" parts on ebay. They go for more than the re-pop, and aren't allways NOS as advertised, but most of the stuuf I've bought has been pretty good.
Welcome from another Pontiac fanatic... I had one of those cute little metallic blue and white 62 Buick specials with the 215, 2 barrel, 2 speed while I was in Germany in 68=69....head gaskets leaked but it ran great..couldn't get american parts back then so I kept 2 jerry cans full of water in the trunk!
Hootsky, Welcome on board. I'm over on the east side and have a 1962 Skylark, bone stock. Boring, but it'll transform into something more interesting, eventually. I have a couple extra 215's if needed. If you ever consider selling the 4 speed Buick, get a hold of me.
Nothing like welcomng a guy thats been on board for 3 years..... Newby"s dont you ever look at dates on a thread???
...that;s what I'm thinking too,but then again I believe that's the same member that welcomed me with "open arms"...yea, right. I was was just trying to find some information, had no idea that there was "protocol" as how one starts a question or begins to learn something new. Makes you wonder if your at the "right place" to find friendly advise and or ***istance. Oh, well...I hope I can get some kind of help in trying to install a Chevy 454 into an original '63 Pontiac LeMans...
