You need a shop that does Mil-Spec plating. In Ca. it's Embee Plating in Santa Ana. In your area, you are going to have to find a shop. Google is your friend.
Erie Hard Chrome... in Erie Pa. They've done some tough jobs for us that other platers turned down. http://www.eriehardchrome.com/
there is a couple of Anodizers/platers in Manitowoc , and Green bay that do it as they do the parts they use in the big cranes and other stuff from down here ( chicago ) your going to have to google and call them .
When you look up anodize shops on line , look for Mil-A-8625 type 3 hard coat. Type 3 anodize is different from regular anodize as it is much thicker .001 build up on a surface and it is almost file hard. used in many aerospace, military and medical applications where wear and superior corrosion resistance is needed
thanks everyone, my "how to rebuild a blower" book calls for hard anodizing the rotors and inside of blower case.. thanks again, cb1
Call around . . . plenty of shops offer it, few do anything other than batch pricing which means you'll pay a flat fee up front whether you have one piece or thousands.
Hard to believe hard anodize is called for on the case. I have never seen anodizing work on castings. Any shop I ever used wouldn't touch castings.
You're in WI, find out who does it for Oshkosh truck, they make military vehicles. Here's a couple that come up on google, "milwaukee hard anodizing" http://www.midwesternanodizing.com http://www.alumatec.com/hardcoat.htm
Inside the case and the insides of both front and back bearing plates. And rotors according to the book. Supposed to tighten up clearence and protect the surface. cb1
My nephew in law used to work for a fire truck builder in Green Bay area, maybe I will ask him... Thanks, cb1
