I'm a relatively new contributor to the HAMB having at last got one of my 'dream' cars which I'm currently building into my own interpretation of a g***er. Looking through the build threads, and through 40 years past experience in the motor trade, it never fails to impress me the talent of some of the 'amateur' builders around the globe. I am lucky. I was trained how to fabricate and weld. I was trained how to build and tune engines. I've had some very nice comments on the build of my latest car, but I should be able to do it well as that is basically how I have made my living since I was a teenager. But the amateur builders who have no basic training, no vast experience and no 'contacts' to speak of and still manage to form metal like a pro, prepare and paint their rides to a level that some professionals would find hard to reproduce and have an eye for what is 'right'. In short they build world-cl*** hot-rods - those people deserve a special kind of appreciation. Though some of you probably don't even know you fall into this category, thank you for your build threads. They are far more entertaining and educational than anything that is shown on TV
When I joined the hamb I too was in awe of the skills on display. After seeing what other average guys were building I decided to try my hand at bringing back a rusty car, previously I sought out solid cars for projects. Bottom line, what's the worst that can happen, and with the help of a knowledgeable friend and moral support and encouragement from the hamb I learned new skills. Not being afraid to try is what has taken so many hambers from average builders to multi talented craftsmen. HRP Viva la HAMB.
Talent, perhaps, it does help in some things. But P***ion, that's what motivates you to learn, practice, until you are good, and then drive you to succeed!
Just remember you cant learn unless you learn the wrong way to do something. Through learning many WRONG ways Ive learned many great ways to do things... Still havent figured out how to weld steel to aluminium... Dont think I ever will... lol
LOL I just scab things together myself. I've paid my dues. Talent? If I had some it would be well hidden, but yes indeed there are some very talented builders on the HAMB.

“Always try to make the best part you can with the skills you have. If it isn’t good enough, throw it away and make another. Every time you make a part, your skill will increase… and you’ll make a better part than you were capable of making before.” -Li’l John ****era
There are some great body saves here on the HAMB, I love following them, junk to final paint. I'll never understand how a car can be wired and function without worry, and rarely read were two people agree on an electrical question/answer. Bob
