Had a rebuilt TH350 installed last June (less than 5k miles ago). No problems until yesterday coming home from 200 mile trip. About 30 miles from home, started hearing what sounded like "marbles" as it shifted into 2nd gear. First few times time, the sound was very short, but as I continued to drive, it got louder and and longer when in 2nd. No symptoms of slippage, and only noise is in 2nd gear. Checked fluid when I got home; a tad low, so I added fluid and drove around the block. Still sounds as bad as previously. Coincidently, my brake master shows slight sign of leakage, and pedal does not always return to full up position by itself. Any ideas?? Many thanks!!
First thing: take off the pan and look for lumps and chunks.Drain the fluid into a white or light coloured pan,and look for metal shaving in the fluid.
All of the above- & your master cylinder needs replacing. Sent from my SM-G900V using H.A.M.B. mobile app
Loose ring gear bolts will make noise at idle as well. If the noise is in second gear ONLY, I concur with the guys that are saying sprag.
Work was completed and paid for 15 Jun 15, and 12 mo/12k miles warranty was written on receipt by shop. Gonna trailer it up there 1st thing in the morning. We'll see what happens. Many thanks to all for what I figured ....... nothing simple or easy. Thanks!!
Sounds like the intermediate sprag race has broken/cracked/shattered (different variations of severity). If that's it, will need a complete rebuild and upgrading to a better race (some shops do that anyway). I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
I had a parking "pall" not sure is that is correct spelling but it broke the end off and it rolled around in the pan and it sounded like " marbles " and only did it on certain situations.
