My father was a good friend of John's and we lived just a short few blocks form him. I bought a Cushman Eagle motor scooter and Dad had John grind a cam for it back in the late 50's, maybe 1958. My Father created a vibration balancing business where he balanced reciprocation parts for engines all over the country including NASCAR and race boat engines. His name was Jim Donovan and he passed away in 1963. Many of the names you mentioned seem familiar to me but I don't have a clear memory. We lived in the Murray Hill section of Jacksonville, FL.
I used to sneak out to the Jacksonville Speed Way in Lenix and Plymouth ave. in Jacksonville too to run my 1950 Ford in the drag races. Running into someone who knew John Schooler brought back many memories to me.

Junior Johnson car also had an engine balanced by my Father Jim Donovan and me. I did the pistons, connection rods and Dad did the rest. I remember many others like Fireball Roberts that we did the balancing work for.

Found these the other day. They came from a guy who use to drag race a Norton motorcycle. He had Schooler grind his cams for him. So I'm told. image.jpeg

  20. getting it back together. this is just a rebuild to get stuff fitted and to put it into one piece so it can be sold. it WILL have to come ALL back apart and a final proper assembly done. IMG_3138.JPG IMG_3140 2.JPG IMG_3141 2.JPG IMG_3144 2.JPG IMG_3144.JPG
