Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by tonyimpala, Mar 19, 2016.

  1. I have never heard of this brand. Has anyone in the HAMB colony used them on their ride?
    Thx in advance

Ten plys on each corner with my old 7.3 Powerstroke .... but cringe thinking that name is worthy of mention here. Yikes ! Great for load rated E pulls though. Many a ton or two hauled ..... and several redlight diesel burnouts made with 'em.

Slinking back into the shadows now ...... no OT blabber ..... repeat twenty nine times with rosary beads .... my HAMB'y is paramount. Lighting the sage as we speak ....

I'm running them on the rear of my 48 Chevy truck . I've got about 5000 miles on them with no issues. They really don't show any signs of wear. Bill

  8. We buy that brand in large volume at the Toyota store I work at. No issues with them.

Not street related but, I used the Hankook slicks on one of my race cars for a few years, More grip than than a Hossier or a GoodYear and last a very long time. I stopped using them because my power level went way up and tire size didn't. I'd buy their street tires without a second thought.

  10. Thanks guys for the info. Driving 1200 miles at the end of this month. The tires that came with the car are from the 90's. However, the tire have half the threads and NO evidence of dry rot. The car was kept in a heated/AC garage. I just don't what to take a chance on route 95 having a blowout at 70MPH. When I get home I will order a set Coker wide WW. Leaving Fla in 9 days.

I have run them on several daily driver type cars for quite a few years. My tire guy sells a lot of them and he has been selling tires for 46 years! I've never had any problems with them and they seem to wear even. The problem I have with them is they look to modern with big letters and these raised swirl patterns on the side wall. They look pretty "busy" and not very traditional. Like I said, good enough for a modern daily driver, but better choices out there for a H.A.M.B. car!

Had some on my '63 Impala that I used to drive back and forth from Saint Augustine to Miami, Fl. Good tires!

  13. No matter the brand -
running on 16-26 year old tires is against every known sound reasoning. Probably what bothers you about it. Do that at your own risk and don't blame a tire brand if things go the way you think they might

Kind of a misleading ***le and post really.

You aren't concerned with using a set of new tires...you require moral support before attempting a trip on very old tires, when deep down you know it isn't a great idea!

    Then maybe you shouldn't.
Perhaps those tires are really good new...but NOBODY here came on board to tell you they are still fine for 70 mph highway use and a 1200 mile trip after such a long storage.
Modern rubber is weird stuff...so this is a decision you make on your own!!!

Hope everything goes well for you.

  16. No way I was going to used these old tires for a 1200 mile highway trip. I just was surprise that after I decode the date that the tires were that old. They just look good to be in good condition with no cracks or dry rot. Also, the previous owner did not know the tires age. He had the car just a year, bought it from a estate sale. The dilemma I have is that I don't enough had the time to order a set wide WW's from Coker. The Hankook Optimo H724 are very affordable and they have WW's. Last, I know that fellow HAMBers would give a honest opinion of the Hankook tire. Sorry if I went a bit OT. Again, thanks fellas for the feedback it is greatly appreciated. I plan to purchase wide Coker's wide WW in the future, the Hankook's will do for now. Next week I will be on the road.
