Hot Rods tips on an upgrade a Buick 364 nailhead electronics

Thinking of using an HEI distributor. What do I need to do besides just the dizzy, if anything? Should/Need I replace the old generator with an alternator? Might want to replace it anyway - is there an aftermarket bracket for an alternator or must it be fabbed? Also I've byp***ed the bad ceramic resistor - pros/cons?

 

I did a pertronix electronic ignition. goes in place of the points and fits in the stock distributor. Get to keep the generator and coil. Works great. Get the one that reads off the cam.

 

Using a petronics unit in my original dist and the recommended coil on my 322 nailhead. Works great
