Just a little ol Desoto we ran across about 14 months ago.
The lady we finally ended up getting this from, her father bought it new in 57, and she got it after he p***ed. 76K original miles, never had anything done except regular maintance. We got the reciepts....
Clean gas and a fully charged battery, and busted off all the mud dobber nests, and we took the ultimate finned car around the block, push ****on trans shifts like a dream! D1A_2015.jpg D1B_2015.jpg D1C_2015.jpg D2.jpg D3.jpg D4.jpg D5.jpg D6.jpg D7.jpg D8.jpg D9.jpg

  11. Beautiful, still miss my 52 Firedome

  12. That's a 325 poly; the hemi was still the top option in the Firedome/Fireflite, now punched to 341 and the last year for it.

What color is the cloth fabric of this car? I really like the way it looks.

HELL of a find!! For the missing trim pieces on the front fender, try the Big M in Williams, California or Wildcat Auto in Sandy, Oregon. I believe the man from the Big M is on this forum. I might have the wheel covers.

  22. Love those '57 DeSotos! My best friend/neighbor had a '57 Firedome through high school and part of college. We overhauled the 341 hemi (his dad was an airline mechanic and knew lots of MoPar gearheads) and pulled a camping trailer behind it all over the Ozarks and northern Missouri. Interior was slightly smaller than a ballroom or gymnasium. Slept off a few drunken nights in that car.

Time for a thread on preserving mud daubers' nests. Got to say again what a great car you snagged. The best cars start with a great car. This one should be one of the best when you're done.

    That's a great find! mud-daubers be damned !
Had a 57 Dodge 2dr HT in H.S. very similar.
It handled great even w/o PS.
Good luck with it. Check to see what type of oil they used.
If non-detergent, the engine will probably have some sludge.
