i read somewhere that the crank is different on a later stick shift olds engine. maybe somthing where the pilot bushing-bearing fits mike
Many Oldsmobile engines used crankshafts that weren't drilled for a pilot bearing, so check your engine out before you're halfway through the automatic to standard swap; you may have to have it drilled by a machine shop.
As far as I know all 64 and up Olds flywheels interchange much like the vibration dampers. If the crank is not drilled supercars unlimited sells a pilot bushing kit that you can install in your AT crank that eliminates drilling the pilot hole. you just have to cut a little bit off the end of your input shaft. They will have more info on the different flywheels. www.supercarsunlimited.com Hope this helps.
yeah , find a flywheel from any late olds ( except from 64-67 330, early 400,425...internally balanced) small and big block flywheels are the same as far the pilot bushing...a few places offer one to be used with the undrilled crank such as dick miller racing, olds performance products and supercrs unlimited anyway, like dday said you may have to trim 1/8 inch or so off your input shaft when using the undrilled crank...not a big deal
www.catpep.com is the cheapest place I found to get a new olds flywheel for a manual transmission. Also after 1975 all olds cranks (at least for the 455's)were drilled for a pilot bearing. Good luck, what a pain in the ass
