I've tried to look for a few threads on this but I haven't found a clear answer. I have a 55 1/2 ton 2nd series chevy truck. I got a sids front axle to drop the front and I'd like to do an axle flip in the rear but I can't seem to find any kits that does the stock axle. all of them are for later rear. my reason for using the stock axle is bc I have already bought 6 lug wheels and I just want to not increase my expenses. anyone know of any companies selling these? I know it's "simple " to make but my brothers welder got stolen and I'm also not too confident in my welding skills. any input would be much appreciated!!
oh and another question, i bought 16" 6 lug rims but the tires that were on the wheels were 255/70/16 which are way too tall to keep for the truck, what sizes are u guys using for 16" rims that fit and look nice? I believe the rim is 16x7

If you flip the stock axle in the rear, it will raise the truck. Is this what you are trying to do?

in a 55 the axle sits under the springs. id like to put it between the springs and frame. but the axle pads have to be moved to the bottom of the axle.

On my 55 2nd series 1/2 ton the rear sits on top of the springs. Could yours possibly be a 1 ton?

You'll have to weld new perches in place. I'm running stock 15" wheels so I can't help with the tire size

Hey hdman6465, your truck must be modified because my truck plus GM literature has the axle below the spring:

If you do not want to weld Allstar Peformance makes a clamp on spring pad which Summit, Jegs, and probably a whole bunch of other places carry. As long as you follow directions they seem to work.

I'm also running 15" wheels so can not help you here either.

Your axle has already been "flipped".

I'm running a 9" Ford, but I welded new perches and remove a couple of leafs and that dropped it down 7".
