Love it. I've been mentally building an early-60s style '41-48 coupe for quite some time too. And like you have a stash of parts for it hanging in my rafters, and a '58 283 sitting in the corner.

    Sub'd to see this through...

  3. Awesome car. Drool...drool....

While we're discussing front end treatments, I'll make a pitch for my favorite semi-custom '41 nose. I have a picture somwhere of a '41 with the two side grilles filled in, and just the center grille left. Can't find the picture just now, but it makes for a really cool look. If I ever find myself with a '41, that's how I'm doing it.

I gasped a bit when I saw the Y-block getting pulled by a strap around those ultra rare and fragile Y block rams horns (!), but overall, looks like a cool project.

I just cant wrap my head around the idea of pulling an engine with a strap. Intellectually, I know theres absolutely NOTHING wrong with it, and in some ways its probably better, but man, I been pulling engines with manly rugged old chains for 40+ years now. Chains are just so butch...:p

  7. I thought about that about half way out...

And those straps are rated for like 10,000 lbs. I prefer chains, but this engine is painted up nice and I was trying not to scratch it all up

I'm at the Portland swap meet right now and scored this bitchin dash. I wanted the chrome trim for the car, but this oringinal paint dash with super nice gauges and original plastic trim just spoke to me

Gorgeous. I love the butterscotch plastic.

Maybe run that until if/when the car gets shinny paint, then 'upgrade' to chrome.

  10. Well I'm done at the swap meet, but my buddy who is still there called and asked if I wanted this that he found there...80.00. I said hell yes!!!

    Good great golly...

And like that you have two bitchin' cars with chrome dashes.

  15. I basically go to swap meets looking for old chrome parts. It's my favorite

I'm thinking of using the original butterscotch trim and gauges out of the blue dash on this chrome dash in the car

  16. Got the chrome dash today from my buddy who grabbed it at the swap meet, I combined it with the plastic and gauges out of the blue dash. All I can say is I'm in love!!!!

Good news, bad news. That looks awesome, but now you HAVE TO chrome the garnish mouldings!!:D

  18. That was always the plan, along with the steering column probably. The dash I wanted to do, but it would have just cost too much

I want to chrome the column jacket and garnish moldings in my '39 as well. I am seriously thinking about tuck and rolling the dash...

There's a guy here in town has the inner windshield garnish chromed. He wants a "C" note for 'em, been trying to get me to buy 'em.

    Damn! Are those ever sweet!

  26. Here is the dash in the car, looks so killer. I can't wait to get everything else chromed, too. I think I will paint the wheel white, and the interior will be mostly white with blue and chrome accents. It's only money, right?

Maybe paint the wheel to match the butterscotch? I like white and blue as much as the next guy, but you got a good thing going there already...
