I remember many of the kids in high school doing this as one of the first mods to a "new" car. That and a woodpecker muffler and instant hod rod. The real serious guys put on headers.

High school kids still do that. Just it's a pillar gauges, motorcycle muffler and crazy wheels

And in high school I was subtly modifying old man cars (nosing decking and such) and ran them quiet and slow. Stock exhaust but modified intake so I could hear the motor IF I punched it

If you can live with light for both, that's the easiest, I let the oil pressure peg, but under the hood at the front of of earlier small block is another place to put a small gauge to look at under with hood open, as for the water I had a big block that I placed the tube on intake next to head, and gauge read pretty close even though not in the water. Cheesey but better than just light. And constantly listen to the eng low oil pressure lifters rattle, loss of power, high temp pinging smell etc

I'll run an aftermarket gauge for sure, probly out of the way. The stock will be hooked up too I think. HOPING for a water port in the back to use the stock temp gauge. If not it goes under the dash aftermarket. Only need to watch it when rubbing and not moving. I look often but that's the time to look constantly

Just to add some fuel to the fire..... I am in about the same place too; model A' engines without full pressure to the mains will only develop about 7 to 10 lbs cold and sometimes 2 or 3 lbs hot and I can not find an electrical sender any lower than the 3 lb listed at the start of this post. Somewhere I remember reading that there was a way to hook up both a light and a buzzer on the same circuit. When you have oil pressure you have the light on, and when you have NO oil pressure, the buzzer goes off and you can hear it when you're not looking at the dash. Surely one of you electrical gurus' can tell us how to wire this one up for our Bangers? Thanks

You must be electrical? Cause simple plumbing T allows two senders to be hooked up. And FYI the light is OFF when all is well. They come on at some low
Psi. Some guys say 5. Some say 10. So the latter won't work for a
Dipper. I got a vintage style surface mount lamp for this like you'd see on a wwii plane

I'm running an idiot light and gauge in my '59.

  10. Seems like we are looking for a 20 dollar cure for a 10 cent problem here. Just drop an oil pressure gauge off the bottom of the dash like everyone used to do, done deal. I probably got a vintage single gauge panel here somewhere that you could have for shipping and oil pressure gauges are not expensive.

I appreciate that. I did pick up a triple. I just like the idea of a light as well. It will fill the hole where my choke cable knob came through the dash
