Finally got the large hole patched in the floor of the cab. Many more smaller ones to go! Will be painting the firewall shortly and the new drive train can go in! Also picked up our new springs yesterday and will hopefully have the rear end back together tomorrow. Should be an active Easter weekend!

Our makeshift paint booth for the freshly sand blasted parts! The better half enjoys sandblasting!

Does anyone know how to press out these bushing? They are in the frame for the front suspension.

A narrow blade in the sawsall, cut through the bushing but not into casting, takes the interference fit out of it,then bang em out, could use a hacksaw too,it'll just take longer.

[IMG]these are rubber? In which case I'd heat em with the torch till they wanted to melt then push em out with a length of pipe, mine were a brass bushing in a 56 merc pickup.

  11. I just used a drill to drill out the rubber, then hammer them out. Took awhile but i dont have a torch or press. Working with rubber is a pain sometimes:)

Got the Steering all hooked back up and rear springs hung. Also finished painting the rear end & axles. I have re-hung the rear end last week. Going to slide the axles in tonight and FINALLY get the motor and transmission in this week. Little hang up with bolts to mount the transmission.

Great work and cool truck. Best of luck on the nuptials.

My ex-wife used to say that "if a marriage can withstand a car build - it can withstand anything". I miss her some days, when its too wet and cold to drive my car and days when there's nothing to do.

Seriously, keep up the work and the updates.

Made a little more progress last night. Have the front shock towers all painted and reinstalled. Got the engine off the stand and lightly bolted up the flex plate. Unpacked the new Lentech AOD Transmission and reinstalled the rear axles and backer plates for the rear drum brakes.

Motor & Transmission are finally mocked in. Now I need to worry about my clearances. Anyone else out there done this before? Need some help making sure I have it in the correct spot!

So I have admitted defeat on this truck being completed for our wedding. Just seems nothing wants to work for me now with the motor and transmission. Can't seem to get my clearance right with the firewall so it gets over the old cross member. Can't seem to get the right angles for the engine and transmission for the new transmission cross member. As well I have ran into an issue with the headers now clearing the steering box and gear selector. Returning these JBA headers, originally had a pair of Sandersons but the drive side interfered with the motor mount. I think its time to take it to a shop and get the drive line installed professionally. Anyone out there able to offer some helpful tips or advice? Or anyone want to buy it now? haha

Don't give up! You might open a new thread called "64 F-100 sbf swap" or something to get attention for your fit question. Is the fit issue mostly related to the AOD?

I ran mustang fox body headers on mine and fit just fine. My steering might be moved a little bit though as I have the crown vic front end under mine.

p.s. don't forget to paint that front axle, it looks funny being ugly with the rest shiny and black

Curious if you got your engine swap woes cleared up.

Still don't have the engine/transmission in yet. Focused on the wedding instead of the truck, now that things are slowly getting back to normal I hope to get back at it. Probably will call on my mechanic for help.

Well I have finally mocked up where the engine should sit. Put the truck back on its wheels, clamped in the engine and added weight to mimique the sheet metal. Have about 1.75" of clearance on the driver side and the firewall. Little concerned about the transmission cross member, seems I have to raise the tail stock 2.5" so my carb sits level. thinking I will get some shims machined for under the cross member & frame and then under the transmission pad.

I think youd be safe with your carb on a 1 degree slope. Itll have more than that going down the road

Worked again on Henry last night, finally have it sitting back on all four! New rear brakes last night, new brake lines, and master cylinder installed. Calling the upholstery shop today for the lovely seat to be redone. Hopefully tonight the drive train will be all bolted in and sheet metal will commence!

So it seems our project has come off the rails a bit. Still working on getting the drive train in properly. Running into issue with the appropriate angles with the tail stock & rear end. Got the drive shaft made hoping we could adjust everything and then bolt it all in place. Seems we go one step forward and five back now. Contemplating if I should just sell the SBF & Lentech AOD cut my loses and rebuild the old 292 & transmission. See what happens over the long weekend and some thinking beers!

Well yesterday afternoon was a scraping, varsol soaking, some more scraping and then washing of body parts & heater box. Redoing the heater box making it shiny again. The old inner fenders are a pain to scrap the 1/4" old under coating off, but I finally got it off. May try a little heat on the next one, see if that will help. Going to prep them and paint them with POR15.

As for the drive train my father in-law and I got it all settled last night. Getting the new transmission cross member made today. Once that's done I can finally mount the motor in its final resting place and move forward.
