brace for chop

    What do I use and how do I lay out the body brace when choping my 53 chevy?

    Its easy if you think it will flex brace it. Side to side, x brace it. another trick I've seen is to tac weld your doors closed, you have some finish work to do after, but good insurance.

  6. I never take the doors off during a chop and also never brace the body on a chop....But what the hell I don't know anything I guess.....:D

    Conduit (can-do-it) works well. And its cheap.

    I braced my 54 Sedan like this, and also tack welded the doors closed

    Hi Slamdpup,
    Good spotting. Yeah, its righthand drive. Alot of the early Chevs were imported in CKD (Completely knocked down) form and ***embled in Wellington NZ.
    Dont know any history of mine except it was bought off a bunch of hippies on Waiheke Island (Kiwis here will know what im talking about) and stripped for parts.
    I got it as a body only.
    I have not done bodywork before so i thought I can only try and see what I can do.
    Now a two door, been hardtopped and half way through a 3 inch chop.
