Freinds that help you on your project when you are in need of ***istance. Here is me on the right with my 59 apache and my aunty b.f. that he been in the family for years and since i recently got interested in my truck he has been the person of knowledge and given me a hand i wouldnt of made it as far as i am with my grandfathers old truck if it wasnt for him and the H.A.M.B. forums.
Neat pick-up. Just remember to get that guy outa there before you drive it. I'm sure your gramps would be proud seeing you with his Ol truck.
With out friends too help whether they have car smarts or just to keeps us going, a large amount of people would not finish their projects, hell who would hand us a cold one!
Good to see you appreciate help, and advice from friends, helpers, and the older generation! There's a lot you can learn from them!
It is so good to have people in your life that will teach you. I wouldn't know where I would be if I didn't have them mentoring me. As you see by my pic , mentors helped me go the right direction in life. Good luck in everything you do. Never give up and never say "I Can't do that" . I am 68 and wish I good go back and thank every one of them but sadly many are not around anymore. Nice truck !
I had an uncle that kept me rollin and "inspired"me. My 59 didn't come with with an aunty b.f. under the hood. I'll have to look for an aftermarket.
My brother Will has been a huge help on my '59, probably the best mechanic I know. My buddy Neil down the street (owns a repair shop) stops in often and he's also a great aid. I have the use of anything in his shop as well. Other bit players, friends with big machine shops if I need a part made on a CNC lathe or have to borrow a press.
I actually have leaning pretty heavy on @Tim since I started flying with one wing. Hopefully I will find a way to return the favor eventually.
My aunty bf. His name is Richard he was under the hood he was showing me how to put an intake on the way he does so it doesnt have oil leaks and vac***e leaks he has been showing me all the things i need to know to keep my gramps ol truck on the road.
When he needs me i am there to help him but anything I learn and I see here on the hamb that some one is in need of ill give back my best input if i know i can relate to the issue of co****. What ive learned with car guys at shows everyone seems to respect eachother and have eachother and never seem to be no fights to break out wich is a good thing this is a lifetime hobby and i am sure bringing my daughter into this hobby
I made a call not long ago to Rocky, he showed up and brought Jimmy with ! Both great guys and gave me some pointers to move forward with. Can't say thanks enough
One of life's hardest lessons is learning the difference between friends and acquaintances. We know many people during our lives, but few of them become lasting friends. Remember, "you have to be a friend to have a friend".
Just be sure you're the guy helping as many times as you're getting help. Might be digging post holes, carrying drywall, helping on cars. Whatever it is, return the favor. And if you borrow a tool bring it back quickly, clean, and g***ed up
I do believe I'll be hanging doors at my bro's place soon... payback can be a *****, lol. I'm a decent carpenter.
I spend considerable time figuring out how to do things without extra hands-----I live out in the sticks and my last male friend can barely walk with a walker.
This is a photo of my hot rod building pal Dave, the wagon would still be unfinished without his help. HRP
One of the things that make my Rods priceless is, that they are not only made of parts from many places. Swap meets, junkyards, horse trades, etc. But all the hands on from family and friends! When I turn the key, I think of all the memories that went in to the creation of this cool little Rod. I guess that is one of the reasons that I keep them for ever. That's also why I never say no to anyone who needs my help also. Like someone said earlier here, it's a two way street. That's the reason that buying a finished build, never has the same meaning for me, as a ground up does. This thread is a cool way to thank everyone for their HELP. And I haven't been here all that long. But a BIG THANKS to all. Ron...
