I'm getting motivated to get my wagon rolling again, but I need my radiator fixed. Anyone have any ideas? I'm also open to buying a brand new radiator too. I was going to get a Mustang radiator, but I'd like something that fits like OEM. Thanks.
JOHN. what are you some kinda restorer? you'l certainly spend more than the cost of a mustang rad for the recoring service, and it will take longer.. I'll recore it.. but I'll need a few things.. send me the following: 1. $150.00 2. the "TOXIC AVENGER" 3. the phone numbers of all your previous girlfriends (the LONG LIST.. BOTH OF THEM) and I'll send a mustang radiator that will work fine ALSO, TOKYO and I promise NOT to point out that your radiator doesnt look "stock" when your drivin us around columbus..
OH. and another thought. if you can find a 55 - 57 chevy rad locally check it for fitament, I am using one in a 49 chrysler, and it fits like a glove. Jeff .. I still expect the list..
Steve Long Custom radiators on Gasoline Alley In Indy, or a cheaper and less attractive job can be done at Kenny's radiator at Michigan and Belmont also in Indy. Steve Long's work is 2nd to none!!!
I'll send you the list of former girlfriends (a grand total of one), but you can't have Toxie. He's the only thing that makes me cool. Plus, he's been my Christmas tree for the last two years.
Go to "junkyard row" on Tibbs between Washington (US40) and Morris. There are about 5 junkyards all within walking distance including "Old cars for fun" Bring a tape measure, tools, cash and some boots you can get muddy, You have a good chance of finding something. The old cars junkyard is kinda sporadic with hours, I'd call and make sure they'll be open if you are coming from Terre Haute... I think the # is 317-243-7777. But don't quote me on that... it's from my shoddy memory. I was up there browsing this weekend... don't remember any Studes, but there were some wagons that might still have a radiator in them. Why does it have to look OEM, you have a hood don't you?
Call SASCO in So Bend at 574 287-3386 for a new radiator or Jim Turner there in Indy can send you to the right place locally to get it fixed. his home # is 317 877-0453 call after 6 pm
Pauls auto radiator on 1251 south Tibbs avenue. He does great work, reasonably priced and great turn time. 317-244-5403 He has done quite a few radiators for my dad and I over the years.
Amen to "Pauls". Personal experience with a '53 F-100 and a '51 Hudson Hornet -recores in each instance- prove Paul to be a true old time craftsman whose labor rates are affordable. Steve Long's work is true art but I don't believe he's the guy for a recore. He builds from the ground up and when he's done you almost hate to hide it in your car. I have one of his in my '32 5 wdw (Flathead) and several years ago my son put one in a '65GTO. Bobby Alloway uses a lot of Steve's work. quote=29 sedanman]Pauls auto radiator on 1251 south Tibbs avenue.
