My Grandfather with his car in front of his shop in late 50's



Grandparents with same car.


My dad with his 52 Convertible in 1960. He's 19 or 20 here and he and my grandfather are in the middle of putting the car back together. I'd kill to be able to find that car and bring it home. My uncle sold it for him a few years after this pic was taken, while he was in the Navy, for $275....

 

Must have been Hollywood celebrity day. Sebastian Cabot, Dan Blocker, Lorne Greene, Clark Gable, Barbara Stanwyck, Jack Benny, Rochester, don't know the others.

When I was eight or so my dad and I were driving this road and I noted the slides* (what 8 year old boy wouldn't?).
Damned if my frugal father did not turn his 850 Spider into the parking lot and we rode the slide.

* in front of the yellow (Marshall's?) building.

I wish I could have a Tommy's chili hamburger now unfortunately we don't have them in Tx . I sure miss them
