They made some pretty bitchin' adapters to fit the wide fives (billet wheels were never an option). The care came in with those wheels and beside them, the body shell and the grille shell all else was appropriately scrapped (not that there was much there to scrap!).
Jim, What did they do with the stuff they scrapped? I'd bet alot of guys here could make good use of that "junk" ! Doc
One of the build team actually hoped to purchase it and make good use of it- nothing is ever thrown away.
Cool, glad to see that stuff doesn't get tossed out just cause they didn't want to use it.Did the owner really want to do the same mods as were done on the show? Hope this gets the producers to do more builds on older cars. Doc
Bad Ass Build-once they said they were getting ready to spray clearcoat I didn't know if I'd like it (too shiny!), but it was definately a cool piece. Loved the windshield-totally first class! www.hotrodsigns.com
I saw it and I think the car came out GREAT!! The first 10 minutes I was thinking "PLEASE DONT PUT BILLIT WHEELS ON IT!!" then Chip said "we gotta keep the wheels".
ive always gave foose props..i mean, the guy has talent runnin out his ass!!i started out on muscle thanks to my ole man, dont like some of the big wheels and way too much sterio shit he does sometimes but if he wanted to do my 70 amx id prooly drop a duece right in the levis.. i was worried when this show can on that it would get that muscle treatment..but he pulled it off great.. the guy knows his shit...he seems like he is very down to earth also for a tv star.. jima, what is yer impresion of foose??? great show, unless it is another friggin civic ..couldnt bring myself to watch that one breeder
He is FIRST CLASS all the way! I have been a fan since he was in art school. Even though his projects were 180 from my own taste- I knew he was going to the greatest talent to come from my generation. He is a real car guy, and there is not ONE DROP of attitude that he is any better than anyone. Just watch him for 5 minutes and you will see that.
I hope someone there told the owner what he was lookin at under the hood, because from the expression on his face he didn't have a clue what kind of engine it was. Foose does it again.....it would be kool to get a printout of his thoughts on a daily basis. That guy can not only work a plan but he plans the work.
Cool. Finally a car I can that I am interested what they do with. By the way, those are some sweet tats.
its on again..i have already recorded it but still cant find ya jim.. i dont see any 400 pounders...well, other then the car
That was the best overhaulin car i've ever seen!! that thing was so fucking sweet! no sbc! y-block to a fmx, wow.
thats a bummer..its kool to be able to put a face with the name..kinda like yer famous the guy that owns it reminds me of a beer gutted keifer sutherland... or not...havent had a beer in well over 3 weeks..not thinkin clearly...maybe next time jim... hell, atleast your in cali//it was raining and freezin here today.... shuttin up.........breeder
nicest car i have seen on the show so far, that little a came out so sweet. at least you could tell the guy really appreciated it, unlike that damn twig of a kid that was on the last episode, too emo to say thank you or something. no matter what anyone says about him, foose has talent coming out of every pore.
that kids goin to have plenty of time doobie rollin when he's LIVIN IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!!! rip cf breeder
that model A turned out BEAUTIFUL!! i'm not always the biggest fan of sedans turned tubs but that one was killer. i like how they thinned the doors and even lengthened the passenger door to match the driver door. the windshield was way cool and the Y-block was a real nice touch. this car just had a great look to it. nice and simple (style wise). love that Chip kept the wide five wheels too. the man has a good eye. BTW i was at SEMA and watched some of the Charger build in person. i'm not a big shot like JimA though so i don't think i made it on TV. those were'nt the most beautiful Mopars ever made but that one sure turned out nice.
I don't know, 4 bar, discs...DOOR LATCHES! What's this world coming to? Definately props for the Y block. Thought they'd go with a flattie though. Still a helluva lot nicer than anything I'm working on.
I think we're seeing why they stick to late model builds - the back of this thing looked like a bowl of mashed potatoes or something when it came back from the blaster and the bodywork ended up costing them an extra day. If the body had been straight, they'd have been done in about 3 days, but you never know what you're going to find on a 75 year old piece of tin. You can find that in the quarters on a muscle car, too, but you can also go buy new quarters for it pretty easy. As usual, it came out nice, a detail or two here and there I'd have done different but nothing that can really be criticized. The brakes and stuff were upgraded I think mostly to make it more user friendly since the guy has a family to haul around in it. Meanwhile, I'm wondering how the hell the original builder had the Mazda motor hooked up to the Ford rear, the one shot of the trans I saw it wasn't an early toploader - (no, I don't want to put a Mazda motor in another one, but a GM 2.5 would be a nice option to have).
The car?....One badass ride...... The rest of that show?....As soon as they go into their "stolen car schtick" it's over to the History channel until you estimate when the schtick and commercial are over.....Then switch back for the build..... WTF?......Any guy that is owns a car being done on that show is somewhat of a car guy.....Are we to believe that as soon as he gets the call about his car being "stolen" or "impounded" he doesn't think of this contrived drama of a show?.....It's "douche chill time" seeing them going through this BS...... Imo "Rides" is a more entertaining show.....No smarmy host and clueless sidekick to get in the way and make me cringe while watching TV
One of my buddies, and a guy I play poker with on a weekly basis was the dude at SEMA who cut-out all those bits for the Charger on the waterjet machine. I think he said they did over 60 pieces for the car, but I only saw a few on the show. He got a little air-time when he explained the whole waterjet process. That was a neat car, but jeez, that kid looked like a huge douche. The Model A I was scared to watch, but it turned-out MUCH better than I anticipated!! Props to Foose on both cars!
Started out that it was going to have a one of a kind 1940 Ford 'Bones font' instrument panel. It ended up with something else. Wa happened?
Both cars came out really good. Even with the value of the Hemi & stuff, I wouldn't have wanted that done if it were my Charger passed down from grandma to father to me. It looked like it was pretty decent to start with.
