I ported several V8-60 blocks a few years ago, with the guidance of the late Ed Binggeli, using gaskets and patterns Ed provided. One of them was for a Crosley-based sports racer from the '50s and is probably close to what would be done for a strong street motor as well.

The intake runners are really tiny and are easily opened up for
    some relatively generous flow.

No relief work was needed or requested on this motor, just a bit of blending and polish on the transfer area, plus basic bowl work and lifter modifications, just like the big motor.

The most recent V8-60 I worked on was for a '48 Kurtis midget that's regularly raced in vintage oval-track events. For this one, Ed provided a relief pattern Bobby Meeks had given him years ago -- the relief that Bobby carved on the Edelbrock motors! The cut is 1/8-in. deep.

The gasket for the intake runners was also rather generous.

I hope this is helpful. It's a fun motor to work on.

av8, beautiful porting work. I'm curious about exhaust side improvements. I also sent you a private message.

  10. So I managed to find a copy of Richard Willums 60 hp book, The cam I have is an isky 620 BS which is the hottest cam available , good to 8000 rpm !!!
I am looking to just be able to use my Eddie myers heads and intake and be a little over stock without getting into a great deal of machine work
want a dependable daily driver , maybe a Winfield SU cam? can I use the eddie myer heads without relieving the block ? and SU cam?

The Winfield cam would be a good choice. You needn't relieve the block for the Eddie Meyer heads, but you will need to check valve to head clearance. Generally the Winfield cams did not have excessive lift, so you might not have to do any machine work to the head.

  12. I have 2 model t's with 38 39 v8 -60's . both are running driving cars ,both engines rebuilt,
I have a 40 v8-60 that needs a rebuild. Plan was to build it with the heads ,cam and 2x2 intake ,
remove an engine from the t and replace with the 40 , but if I can just bolt everything to one of the engines
already done , makes life simple .

620BS is too HOT for street use.
Also have to find 16 Mushroom Lifters for it.
Also an Aluminum Cam Gear because if the spring pressure the Fiber Gear dont live long.
There is A LOT more needed to spin a 60 8000rpm.
Wood Remover if you are still working on it.
    Msg me for help/parts.
I am still in touch with all of Dad's connections.
