Cliff notes first. I bought a cycle with a ***le but no way to transfer it cause I was told owner was dead. Found owner's son. His Dad is alive and well. Got ***le transferred.

I've posted about my cycle before but I have some great news. I finally got the ***le transfer completed. I bought this 1948 Jawa Perak 250 a few years ago. I got a ***le with it but the guy who sold it to me never had it transferred from the previous owner. I was told that the guy whose name was on the ***le was dead. So I bought it anyway and didn't do much with it except take a few pictures and put it into the barn.

Last year I did a google search and found a guy living about 5 minutes away from me with the same name but he was a Jr. I figured it was the owner's son. I called the guy and explained what I had and what I needed to get done. He told me that he could not help me but says to call his Dad and get him to do it. I was shocked because I was told his Dad was dead.

I got his Dad's number but was a little scared to call, fearing the cycle may have been stolen. Well I called and it turns out that it was not stolen and he was willing to meet me at the notary to complete the transfer. He took my number and said he would call me sometime. A few months p***ed and no call. I called again last week and we met on Saturday and got the transfer done. The ***le was already signed. He told me that he signed it back in 1964, which was 8 years before I was born. It used to be very easy to transfer ***les and it was common to simply sign a ***le and have the buyer finish the process. I have a temporary ***le and in a few weeks I'll have the official ***le from the state.

Does anyone know where I can get parts or this cycle? Here are a few pictures of mine and a couple pictures of some very similar models. Mine was originally black and chrome.

Good for you, Pa. can be a ***** for ***les anymore. What are your plans if you find parts? Will ou go original, bob it, etc.? Go to Oley AMCA meet the last weekend of April. You should b able to hook up with something. What parts are the immediate needs?

It may be too difficult to go original. I am missing speedo, headlight, and some other stuff. I have no idea if the engine is any good. I need to talk a little more with the guy who met with me to transfer the ***le. I don't even know if it is a 2 or 4 stroke.

I like the looks of the red and blue/green cycles in the pics I posted. If I decide to change motors, what can you suggest?

It's a two stroke, I used to race a CZ (same parent company). Jawa is famous for there speedway bikes. Nice find.

Good find! I had one of these when I was a kid...my first motorcycle at the age of 12. Jawa (CZ) made both 2 & 4 cycle motors...not sure of the years/models. Mine was like the red one in the picture posted...oil tank on right side. Also, what's really cool about these is that once you get mobile, they could be shifted clutchless. That was a factory design/promotion for them. Neat bikes. Mine was totalled by my dip-sh*t cousin taking a curve too fast/too high about a year after I bought it.

As for parts...probably best to do some internet searches and check the cycle salvage yards. Good luck with your project...would like to see pics of it when you have it running.
