I have a dual fuel pump on my 55 Ford to work the vacuum wipers. I spent about a hundred bucks to have the wiper motor rebuilt last year. I bought a new fuel pump last year as well. This year I was doing my safety check and turned on the wipers and nothing happen. So the first thing I checked was the vacuum side of the fuel pump. It was reading 10 vacuum. It never gets any higher even reviving the motor. Last year it was about 20 vacuum to 25. So I want to know if the vacuum side is bad is the fuel side shot too. I can't measure my fuel pressure, because I lost the little adopter for my vacuum gauge to read fuel pressure. I also have a new Holley carburetor, a rebuilt one, with only one vacuum port, and that's for the dizzy. The wipers ran last year. I replace all the hose to the wiper motor. I think I covered it all. Should I get a half inch carburetor spacer with a vacuum port on it? Any ideas...............

Did you replace the heater control vacuum hoses? It tees off the vacuum line inside the firewall, goes to the heater and exits the firewall in a smaller hose that goes to the control on the intake manifold. Also are you certain the two vacuum lines on the fuel pump have not been reversed?

I have no heater in the car I removed every bit of it because I don't drive it in rainy or real cold weather. I have no real need for a heater. There's only one vacuum line on the pump and the other one is like a pressure it register . that ran to the manifold some how. I have no idea why it was never connected when I bought the car 11 years aga..

The best solution is electric wipers if you have converted to 12 volt. That is why every manufacturer went to electric - less problems. and, in my opinion, safer.

You can even get intermittant (sp?) wipers with the conversion kits.
