Can anyone identify my engine? I believe it is stock, but anyone I ask, has no idea what it might be. The car is a 1954 Canadian Pontiac. and the motor is a flat 6(obviously)
Also refered to as an L-head. Might be a good idea to squirt some WD-40 around the plugs from time to time. Those indents are moisture traps, and the plugs can be a real ***-pain to get out. JOE
Cool, THANKS! any other suggestions I should do prior to attempting to start it?(other than change fluids adn plugs and points n stuff)
If it's been sitting a long time, and it's not stuck, I would suggest pulling the plugs and squirting some motor oil in each cylinder. Then use the starter to turn it over until you have oil pressure. Check to see if you are getting fuel to the carb. Then install the plugs and see if it will start. Don't get the plug wires mixed up,and use a dwell meter to set the points.

The fuel in the float bowl might be all "oogy" and everything might be lacquered up.. You could drain the gas tank, pull the fuel line from the carb, crank it till you get good gas, too. Let us know when she fires. JOE
