Has anybody converted a Moon Tank to hide their battery in? I am out of space and am thinking in a Moon Tank in front of the radiator would be a good spot. I'm sure others have done this, any pictures or description of what needed to be done and what tank needed?
OJ that is an interesting concept. I wouldn't think that it wouldn't be much different than a motor cycle with the battery in the oil bag, just a shelf for the battery to sit on and in the case of the moon tank a vent for the fumes. It is added weight out front but it is a neat idea.
Thanks ******, I'm thinking the tank would have to seperate so you could get to the battery cables and they'd be disguised running inside the 'fuel lines'. I'd like to see how others have done it before I wack up a $300 tank to find out I needed a different tank altogether, know what I mean? I'd use one of those lightweight, small batteries that can be mounted in different orientations.
OJ - I can get some dimensions on my 2 1/2 gallon Moon tank for you if needed. From memory, it may be too small for an ordinary size & shape battery.
here is the battery, the end cap has a 1 inch sleeve welded on that slides in then sheet metal screws hold end cap on they are hidden by the tank clamp . there is on off switch on bottom of tank
Thats about what I had in mind 32v, nice work. If you were to do it again, what would you do different? I like that battery, I am considering using the same. The connector, is that how you get around getting to the battery posts? You have a short pigtail on the battery? All that fits under the stepdown end that you turned into a cover? Was that a Moon tank to start with or one you rolled up to thier sizes so you could use their mounting bracket? Thanks for taking the time to post. Nice roadster, bad***ed.
http://www.bungking.com/oil-tanks/ Their 6" oil tank kit might work also. Just try'n to share a less expensive option. Did you guys put anything over the terminals to keep eliminate shorting them out on the inside of the tank? Just curious.
I recently bought a tank from Speedway that is cheaper than a Moon to save a few bucks, you can find fake stickers to put on it to pull off the illusion if you wish.
