Hope it all works out Tony! Hopefully by this evening I will know for sure that my engine is still good to go. I put the tunnelram back on last night and will be ready for all Quick and Dirty has to offer...maybe lol

My buddy at work brought in his peep hole camera that fits in a spark plug hole. Get an inside view tonight. Hope the Southern Flyer isn't hurt either Gabriel.

Was just about to post that I have a borescope camera that will fit thru spark plug hole when I read the post above. Hope it all still looks OK. Damn! That's too close for comfort!

This next go around is going to be staked and broiled.

Think its ok :) the camera shows some small marks. Nothing on the ring lands really. The compression is 215 on that cylinder. That's not the lowest cylinder - 200 on #5 and as high as 235 on #8 the rest are about 215 - 220.

Wooooo Dodge This! alright :D not kidding

Normally Hilborn will have little tiny lock washers under those puppys, at least all the ones i have ever dealt with have. But be careful,, those lock washers will break then you have 2 tiny pieces of metal runnin through your motor.

Dr. Proctor with an **** scope  That probe didn't have a way to bend backwards like that. If I make a habit of this, maybe we can pool our funds and get something that articulates.

Yep there is - was a little washer too. Hope he is gone gone gone. Plan to use a spring loaded punch on the backs of all the screws tonight. Then as a pre-race check - check these *******s. You would think in 50 years of making these stack injections this issue would be solved in some clever way by now. o_O

Not endorsing Fleabay or its sellers, but....

A buddy at work picked one of these up and had it at work last week. Surprisingly bright and clear...could save a ton of car money. And, if you're an iPhone guy, you can find used android phones anywhere....cheap!

The worst thing about this the sharp edges that could be a start to some detonation in that cylinder.

I agree Salty. We have one weekend between Greer and Steel In Motion so I'll pull the head and rub on that dome.

It's a naturally aspirated motor I wouldn't worry as much if it was supercharged I would be pulling it apart but it still needs looked at for sure Definately stake all those screws not just the ones in that ****erfly good luck at Greer

Noob question, where did the screw go to once it fell in there? It looks like it is not just sitting in there. Does it break up or go solid out the exhaust valve? Is in in the header/collector? Is there some sort of magnet on a stick that can go in the plug hole to fish out any bits? Personally, I would have to take the head/exhaust off and find that little ****** or I could not sleep.

The hemi exhaust valve is the low side exit - not that gravity had any effect at 7500 RPM. The lift of the valve is .700" This all happened damn fast so maybe 3 seconds at 7500 RPM = 3 seconds = 375 crank rotations.
So to me, it looks like about 6 piston strikes on the screw maybe. The CSI guys would think the screw exited pretty quick or there would be way more strikes.

Clue #2 - the hole in White Trash's window  since he was parked next to my open exhaust. :D

Heading to the hardware store at lunch to locate some that are longer than the ones in there now. There are no threads sticking out the back side to stake. Seems like the carburetor guys have been down this road. I read all of the stuff on the Hilborn site and there is no mention of stake.

Hey tony I was wondering how the coating is holding up that you sprayed on your front wheels I bought some of that on blaster stuff and sprayed a set of wheels but it really doesn't stick to good and wipes right off was there another step you done that I missed like a clear coat or something

My fronts are holding up good. They were the rough cast finish wheels though, it might not stick to a polished surface since its just graphite. Can you sand blast your wheels? That might be the only way to get it to stay on the wheel.
