on a `28-`29 the hinge is bolted to the underside of the header panel. you will need to drill the mounting holes in the hinge.i think on my `28 Tudor i also had to do some t******* in the picture an original hinge is already mounted
i believe that aluminum frame will work with the original hinge , give it a try. it appears the end of the hinge is bent over , you will have to straighten it out for them to slide together FYI.....i have the same windshield frame on my `28 Tudor. paid $105 for it in 1996. just bought an aluminum frame for my `30 coupe project and it was $279.
If you can fit the new alum frame to that original steel hinge, it should give a much better life for you. Having alum rubbing on alum will cause galling.
Has anybody ever tried to use the factory steel hinge with a new aluminum frame, I've beat bent heated twisted cussed yelled oiled greased and cussed some more, they will not slide together. There's not a video or pictures out there with somebody doing this?
just use the aluminum hinge that came with it , that's what i did on my `28 Tudor and it's been fine for 20 years using an aluminum frame and hinge on my `30 coupe
